Nearly a month after the incident occurred, on November 11th, China’s official media CCTV News finally issued an “official statement” regarding the wild child case:
In response to online doubts about “never dressing the child,” Li Moumou said that this is not true, “Pingping has had eczema before, and when the weather is warm, he doesn’t like to wear clothes, but he will主动找衣服穿 (actively look for clothes to wear) when he feels cold, and he has never fallen ill from catching a cold.”…
Several staff members expressed that, based on the interactions over more than ten days, Li Moumou and Wan Mou not only did not abuse the child as rumors suggest, but they were overly indulgent. They listened patiently to the child’s thoughts, and when staff helped correct the child’s behavior, they would occasionally say something stern, and both would show displeasure…
According to relevant personnel from the joint working group, after investigation by public security authorities, combined with witness testimonies, medical assessments, and daily behavioral observations, it was confirmed that Li Moumou and Wan Mou did not abuse the child…
Xiao Wang from the county civil affairs bureau said that through contact and observation over this period, Pingping speaks普通话 (Putonghua, standard Mandarin) fluently and can communicate normally with others. He enjoys interesting games, drawing, playing football, and is smart and quick to learn…
In the evening, tired from playing, Pingping peacefully fell asleep in his grandfather’s arms. His grandfather gently patted his back, guarding his dreams. In the future upbringing of the child, the older generation will continue to participate in caregiving. Pingping’s grandfather emotionally said: “I hope society can give this small family enough time and space, so they can return and correct…”
The above is just a small part of the official media’s report. In other parts of the notice, the Chinese government painstakingly answered every hot question from the public:
- Reason for not wearing clothes
Having had eczema, he doesn’t wear clothes when the weather is warm, but will主动穿衣 (actively wear clothes) when it gets cold. - Reason for crawling
Mainly playing with a pet dog; crawling is to learn from the pet dog; imitating is a child’s nature. - Existence of abduction
DNA testing confirmed the child is biological. - Existence of abuse
According to villagers, no violence was found; hospital examinations also showed no injuries on the child’s body. - Whether the child is exploited illegally online or whether guardians joined “邪教” (cults)
No evidence of filming videos for profit via the dark web; no such involvement. - Whether the “wild child” will be properly cared for in the future
A “guidance team” has been established for serious criticism, and the guardians’ attitude has “明显转变” (obvious change).
Terms like “overindulgence,” “patiently listening,” “fluent Putonghua,” “sleeping peacefully in grandfather’s arms”—in the words of China’s official media, the “wild child” has become an “ordinary child with special quirks,” his guardians transformed into “overindulgent parents,” and the child is neither lacking in parental love nor abused. Compared to nearly a month ago, the Chinese government’s official stance has hardly changed: firstly, it completely denies any abduction, denies that the guardians’ income source is from dark web videos; secondly, it insists that the child’s abnormal behavior is due to “educational differences,” and explains the child’s behavior as imitating a dog, outright denying the malicious intent of the guardians and exonerating them; thirdly, it attempts to prove that the “wild child” is now receiving proper treatment and can live normally and receive education.
Regarding the authenticity of this “notice,” anyone with conscience and critical thinking can make a correct judgment. This is a notice that blatantly contradicts common sense, disregards facts, and spreads falsehoods. The rogue writers and rumor-mongers of the Chinese government are desperately trying to embellish this extreme case of barbaric abuse with sentimentality, attempting to silence the people with lies! This official statement even fails to meet the basic journalistic principle—truth—thus fundamentally unable to answer any questions from the public. In the videos used as “evidence” by the official media, we can clearly see that the child in the video looks very different from the “wild child,” lacking the deformities such as deformed fingers and spine caused by long-term crawling, and even the skin color is significantly different. Behaviorally, the children in the videos are completely normal, able to run, jump, use their hands to play, and speak normally, able to play with other children. However, all available information indicates that the “wild child” has not been taught to walk or speak. In all current videos of the “wild child,” he has never walked upright, and when asked about his condition, he obviously cannot respond. Socially, the “wild child” has never interacted with other children and cannot easily learn to play with peers. It is well known that the first few years of childhood are crucial for learning language and walking; the “wild child” obviously has not received corresponding education. Can three years of harm be reversed in just a few days of “normal life”? Most importantly, the mastermind behind the incident—the guardians of the “wild child”—are not even shown in the videos! Even ignoring the evidence that many online citizens have found linking the guardians to criminal groups involved in abduction, sale, and abuse videos, these videos do not serve as proof that the child has been rescued; instead, they prove that the official claim of “no abduction” is also a lie.
The text content of the notice is even more full of lies. It uses concept substitution to explain abuse as simply “no injuries,” denying the existence of abuse by the guardians, even ignoring China’s own laws. As previously pointed out, according to Chinese law, “abuse” is defined as actions such as frequent beating, starvation, binding, forced labor, restriction of freedom, and humiliating the personality—causing physical and mental harm to family members. It is not limited to physical injuries alone; it also includes starvation and psychological torment. For obvious abusive behaviors—such as forbidding the “wild child” to wear clothes, forcing him to live like a dog—official media blatantly spread false rumors. They interpret the child’s eczema as “having had eczema,” and that he主动穿衣 (actively wears clothes) when it gets cold, and claim that imitating a dog is “mimicking a pet.” Ask, which parents would treat eczema by making their child crawl on dirty ground without clothes? Which child, under proper education, would choose to run on all fours as their main activity? As for whether the “cold weather prompts him to wear clothes,” the public has already given the answer. As early as the Lunar New Year’s Eve this year, citizens filmed a video of the child crawling裸身 (naked). The claim that “he主动穿衣 (actively wears clothes) when it gets cold” not only contradicts previous evidence collected by the public but also does not match the weather conditions reported at the time (the weather was already cold, and most people, including the child’s guardians, were wearing multiple layers). Regarding the urgent issue of whether the child can be properly placed, the Chinese government also completely evades the public’s demand: to criminally punish the abusive guardians and revoke their guardianship. The notice’s vague statement that “educational methods… caused significant conflicts” completely avoids addressing the abuse by guardians; the guardians have not been deprived of guardianship, nor have they faced any government accountability, punishment, or detention. This is a notice that legalizes the abuse of the “wild child” by guardians!
When the “wild child” incident broke out, even his “parents” were wearing coats.
The Chinese government has fully revealed its hypocritical and sinister face. It publicly declares: the Chinese government aims to maintain absolute authority of parents over their children, even to the extent of protecting guardians who deprive children of their rights. To achieve this, it can ignore all common sense, morality, conscience, and even its own laws publicly upheld. It not only seeks to cover up with lies but also wants to silence the people with a stick. Before the notice was issued, major Chinese online platforms like Douyin, Bilibili, and Xiaohongshu removed many videos related to the “wild child,” and new videos about the case were widely restricted or banned from uploading. For a long time, the term “wild child” on Weibo was more popular than many sensational news topics, but it did not appear on trending searches; on Bilibili and other video sites, related videos were forcibly taken down for reasons like “social hot topics” and “regulating dissemination order,” and re-uploading was prohibited. However, after the so-called “notice” from the official media, major video and social platforms were flooded with this notice and propaganda from government puppets. Mao Zedong once said: “Having made mistakes, if you do not admit them and are afraid of others pointing them out, the more you fear, the more ghosts you will create… Let people speak, and the sky will not fall, nor will you collapse.” If a regime is confident that its official notice is detailed and credible, why resort to such methods to suppress opposition voices?
Now, searching for “wild child” on video sites, most original videos have been taken down and replaced with the so-called “notice.”
In recent months, such incidents have repeatedly occurred in China—from the Yuhang water pollution incident, to Yu Menglong’s death, to the Shennongjia exploitation of disabled laborers, and to the wild child case. These events have been closely watched by the masses, and a large amount of evidence has been collected, with the truth gradually emerging. However, the Chinese government continues to block the voices of the people, using the most despicable methods to cover up the facts and refuse to respond to public demands. The rogue writers and rumor-mongers of the Chinese government distort algae pollution as water bloom, claim murders are suicides, and downgrade all issues to trivial matters, solely to protect a handful of criminals harming the people for personal gain. Clearly, the Chinese government has declared through its actions that the current “Chinese revisionist” traitor group is composed of these criminals who harm the people, and their interests align with anti-people, anti-democratic fascist regimes! The bureaucratic monopoly bourgeoisie currently in power in China opposes the working class and oppressed peoples. To maintain its rule, it uses state power to cover up the truth that damages its authority, aiming to reduce social impact. The measures taken by the Chinese government regarding the “wild child” case embody this approach—completely controlling all websites, newspapers, TV, and spreading rumors, so that what people see and hear is entirely fascist propaganda, without exception. The Chinese government seeks to block people’s thoughts, making the broad masses believe that all such claims are false.
But their illusions cannot be realized. Mao Zedong taught us: “Imperialism and all reactionaries always overestimate their strength and underestimate the revolutionary forces,” and “they fall into the traps they set themselves.” The Chinese government disregards even its own laws and openly defends the reactionary guardians of the “wild child,” covering up the truth with rumors. But all their actions only expose their reactionary nature more clearly to the masses. The more they try to suppress public opinion and spread rumors to maintain their “authority,” the more people realize that the so-called authority of the Chinese government is not about safeguarding people’s interests or justice but about protecting oppressors and repressing the people—that is the dialectical law of history. Today, in the comment sections of the official media’s so-called “official notice,” as long as comments are not openly censored or restricted, many people still express their anger, question, and refute the government’s rumors. This indicates that more and more people are awakening to the political events happening recently, doubting and opposing the so-called “authority” of the Chinese government. Over time, the public will increasingly equate the government’s “debunking” with “spreading rumors,” gradually rejecting reactionary propaganda and cultivating political consciousness. In the “wild child” case, we already see this awakening growing—people’s greater sympathy for the tragic fate of the “wild child” has mobilized a broader public support, even involving those who have not directly been harmed by the case (and they are the vast majority) in the fight for the truth. Some have even crossed the restrictions of Chinese laws, communicating and exchanging information through dark web channels, and distributing leaflets to inform the unaware about the facts.
Weibo users persistently expressing dissatisfaction under the propaganda of the Chinese government’s rogue writers and rumor-mongers.
But why has the “wild child” case sparked such widespread sympathy? This can be glimpsed from the participants in the struggle. The most prominent feature of the “wild child” incident is that it has led many women, previously considered apolitical under capitalist patriarchy prejudices, to participate widely in the fight—indeed, they are the main force. The highest discussion heat outside of Douyin (TikTok) is on Weibo and Xiaohongshu, where young women are particularly active. Women are not truly indifferent to politics, because politics is not only about “big national affairs.” What is politics? It is class struggle. As Engels pointed out: “In the family, the husband is the capitalist, and the wife is the proletariat.” Undoubtedly, women under capitalism are often limited in their horizons within the family, but for the same reason, they suffer the deepest oppression of capitalist patriarchy. In small capitalist families, due to economic dependence, women are enslaved by their husbands, forced to perform unpaid domestic labor, suffer the pain of being used as reproductive tools, and endure legally sanctioned abuse in the name of “family.” In women’s domestic disputes, there is also politics—husbands as capitalists oppress women as proletarians; women criticize their husbands’ abuse and infidelity—these are political struggles. Beyond these immediate political issues, women in modern capitalist society are increasingly involved in social labor, which also broadens their participation in political activities. As previously mentioned, the Chinese government’s protection of reactionary guardians of the “wild child” at all costs aims to uphold the authority of “parents” under Confucian family hierarchy—absolute authority of parents over children, husbands over wives. Women, especially those long oppressed as proletarians within families, are more sensitive to this and thus develop greater empathy for the “wild child.” The extreme decay of the Chinese revisionist regime has led women, long immersed in family affairs, to participate more actively in politics. Marx once said: “If we compare the infant shoes of the proletariat with the tattered shoes of the bourgeoisie, we can predict that this Cinderella will grow up to be a strongman.” Today, we can also predict that Chinese women will gradually recognize how the exploitative state serves the interests of oppressors through events like “wild child” and other political incidents, oppose the reactionary rule of the Chinese revisionist traitors, and play a significant role in future revolutionary movements in China!

The awakening of the masses is also raising higher demands: since the broad masses have not given up their fight for the truth of the “wild child” incident and for punishing the reactionary guardians, we should not lag behind them. As Lenin pointed out: “Claiming to be an advanced unit is not enough; we must do everything so that all other units see and recognize that we are leading.” “Our country has neither parliament nor free assembly,” but under such difficult conditions, we should do our best to convey the views of the Communist Party to all social strata because, “Anyone who forgets that ‘Communists support all revolutionary movements’ and fails to emphasize the tasks of democracy and socialism to the people, and does not openly declare their socialist beliefs at all times, is not a Marxist-Leninist. Anyone who forgets that social democrats have the responsibility to lead and resolve all democratic issues is not a Marxist-Leninist.”
