Seeing the wave of mass movements across Europe, I am curious whether there are truly Marxist parties in Europe, and if any comrades are familiar with the situation.
Regarding the situation of the French Maoist Communist Party:
The Maoist Communist Party of France (法毛共) was established in the early 2000s. During the May 1968 protests, “Comrade Pierre,” influenced by Mao Zedong Thought, was a key founder of the party. He persisted tirelessly for decades in promoting Marxist-Leninist-Maoist ideology and finally, in the early 2000s, riding the wave of large-scale mass movements in France, gathered a group to establish the Maoist Communist Party of France. Later, in 2012, the Maoist Communist Party of France formed the “Red Camp (Maoist Unity)” with the “Communist Organization Alliance (Marxist-Leninist)” and “Communist Organization - Red Future (OC-FR).” In 2016, they officially merged into a new Maoist Communist Party of France, with the full new name being “Maoist Communist Party (France).” The old full name was “French Maoist Communist Party,” but it is still more colloquially called Maoist Communist Party of France (法毛共).
The Maoist Communist Party of France previously had an official website, but it seems to have been shut down due to internal issues and has not been restored (many organizations within ICL only publish online journals and do not maintain official websites). Currently, they seem to only operate the “People’s Cause” online journal, with occasional statements or interviews published in “Red Pioneer.” For example, after their official website was down for a long time, the Maoist Communist Party of France issued a statement in “Red Pioneer” thanking the International Communist League (ICL) for helping resolve their internal issues, and published several interviews about French mass movements, including one about the Yellow Vest movement.
The former official website of the Maoist Communist Party of France contained some programmatic documents and various articles, but they are somewhat outdated and have not been re-released, so they are likely considered obsolete.
“Comrade Pierre” passed away in 2017 at the age of over 80. Several Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties issued obituaries, but there was no detailed account of his deeds. From the obituaries, it is known that he participated in the process of meetings among European Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties and organizations, one purpose of which was to prepare for establishing a new international proletarian organization. Similar meetings were held among Latin American Marxist-Leninist-Maoist parties and organizations. Only some of these documents have been translated by the Left Circle. Based on this, the International Maoist Unity Conference (UMIC) was convened, leading to the establishment of the International Communist League (ICL).
Besides the merger mentioned above, the French online journal “New Era” also issued a statement about merging into “People’s Cause,” after which it ceased operation. Most of its published articles have been reposted in “People’s Cause.”
Articles on this website can somewhat reflect the views of the Maoist Communist Party of France.
Here’s a brief overview of the situation in Germany: There are organizations in Germany that support Marxist-Leninist-Maoist principles, such as the “Red Flag Committee,” which frequently appears in international joint statements, as well as the “Red Women’s Committee,” the magazine “Class Standpoint,” the online publication “Serving the People,” and others. However, German organizations are relatively mysterious; I am not familiar with their specific situations or whether they are connected to each other.
This is the website of the online publication “Serving the People.” Their YouTube account was recently banned, and all videos were deleted by YouTube, so they can no longer be shared.
In an article titled “The Decay of Imperialist Ideology,” they view transgender issues as part of “postmodernism” and reactionary, and are thus attacked by a small sectarian group in Switzerland [which at the time called itself the editorial board of “Red Flag” magazine and now claims to be the Swiss Communist Party (Red Faction)]. This group criticizes international communist organizations like the International Communist League (ICL) as being of the same ilk, supporting opportunist organizations and the so-called “New Myanmar Communist Party,” which in reality has degenerated into anti-communist elements to protect their LGBT sectarian interests, similar to the right-wing anti-communist traitor groups in the US.
They occasionally hold thematic educational speeches targeting at least communist enthusiasts, as well as offline activities such as film screenings and demonstrations. On the 100th anniversary of the Hamburg Uprising, they even established a dedicated website to introduce the specific circumstances of the uprising and to express commemorative sentiments.
The situation in Spain:
The Maoist Communist Party of Spain was initially called the “Workers’ Party (Marxist-Leninist)”. In 2019, it split from the “Marxist-Leninist Youth Communist Collective” due to the anti-revisionist struggle. Afterwards, through studying documents from the “Chinese Communist Party / Marxist-Leninist”, “Indian Communist Party (Maoist)”, “Philippine Communist Party…”, especially the documents of the “Peruvian Communist Party”, it adopted Maoism and renamed itself the “Maoist Communist Party (Spain)”, which is still called the Maoist Communist Party of Spain, as it sounds more natural.
The website related to them is:
P.S.:
“Minutes of the Second Congress of the Maoist Communist Party of Spain”
Additionally, in 2023, they issued a statement condemning the sinister acts of the rightist revisionist traitor group in the United States, which acts as police accomplices, and explicitly expressed support for the Communist Party of the United States Reconstruction Committee (CR-CPUSA).
I do not follow that website very often, and I am not very clear about the specific situation of that organization.
What do comrades think of Germany’s MLPD?
The Left Circle Organization, which established ICOR to promote “principled unity,” allows any organization that verbally opposes revisionism or even just nominally claims to do so to join (see Contributions from ICOR Member Wikipedia: 革命政党和组织国际协调 - 维基百科,自由的百科全书), including opportunist organizations such as TKP-ML, Red China Network, and Hoxhaist groups; they also invented the “New Imperialism Theory” to label countries like India as imperialist, and there are articles abroad specifically criticizing this fallacy.
Isn’t TKP-ML’s contribution quite significant? I believe that due to some theoretical issues, their stance was completely discredited as inappropriate. After all, their positions on the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are basically correct.
Spain’s “Serve the People” has updated its website, new website: https://serviralpueblo.com/
TKP-ML is an opportunist faction that split from TKP/ML; the two organizations are not the same.
Oh, I see.
Recently, Spain has seen the emergence of a fascist organization with a red skin, called Frente Obrero (“Workers’ Front”), led by the anti-immigration fascist Roberto Vaqueiro. Are there any articles criticizing him?
Sorry, I am not familiar with this area.
