Previously, after the book club ended, I asked this off-topic question. Comrades thought I was too far off-topic and suggested I create a post to discuss it, so I made this post specifically to discuss this provocation incident fabricated by the reactionary Kuomintang (KMT) faction.
The first time I learned about the Beita Mountain incident was in junior high when I accidentally came across a video on Baidu. It falsely accused the Mongolian People’s Republic’s army of “invading” “Chinese territory” at Beita Mountain, calling the Soviet Union a “accomplice”; it exaggerated that the KMT opposition forces “rose up to resist, defend the homeland.”
I was briefly interested in this afterward and searched for related topics on Baidu, but the content was mostly the same toxic material as above. Although I had doubts at the time, my petty bourgeois stance and mindset prevented me from further exploring it.
When I joined the forum and developed a bit of a proletarian stance, and after I watched the Beita Mountain incident video again, I noticed a few inconsistencies: How could the Mongolian People’s Republic and the Soviet Union possibly invade other countries? Is Beita Mountain really Chinese territory? How can we believe only the reactionary KMT’s side of the story? Plus, the pink fanatical celebration in the video made me even more suspicious, so I decided to investigate further, at least to find the general truth.
Later, after using a VPN to bypass the firewall, I searched for the Beita Mountain incident and saw a more objective account on Wikipedia. However, it was unclear how the KMT and U.S. imperialists planned this incident; it only mentioned that during the socialist period, China published a booklet discussing the reactionaries’ planned events. I still have doubts about this. I hope comrades who know about this can answer my questions; it would be even better if I could find the booklet mentioned on Wikipedia.

One more sentence to add to the main text: It is said that the US consul in Dihua was involved.
First, answer a simple question: Is Beitasan (North Tower Mountain) part of Chinese territory? The answer is: yes. Is it Mongolian territory? The answer is: also yes. Now, take a look at the map:
The entire mountain range shown in the map screenshot is Beita Mountain. The darker color represents the Chinese territory, while the lighter color represents the Mongolian territory.
What the Kuomintang side says: Mongolia invaded Beitashan. But they do not say that Beitashan is actually controlled partly by both China and Mongolia. The Kuomintang army invaded the Mongolian side, arrested and killed people, but they do not talk about that either.
The statement from the Mongolian side is very clear.
Yes, in the video of rumors from the Central Repair side (although it is not an official statement, this tacit approval indicates that they share the same reactionary stance as the Kuomintang reactionaries), these facts about the Kuomintang’s aggression are not mentioned. Many little pinks are celebrating and spreading fascist rhetoric.
The materials cited on Wikipedia are articles written by Song Xilian, who commanded the Kuomintang army at the time, and the Kuomintang Literature and History Archives.
Wikipedia is like this: whoever is reactionary is quoted.
After achieving victory in the war phase of the Mongolian Revolution in 1921, except for fighting against Japanese fascists in 1939 and 1945, the Mongolian regime consistently pursued a strategy of defending its own territory. This was because the border situation of Mongolia remained very dangerous before the founding of the new China in 1949. Before 1945, Mongolia faced Japanese fascists entrenched in Northeast China and Inner Mongolia. After 1945, it faced the Kuomintang government in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Gansu. Facing these two reactionary forces, Mongolia was absolutely weak both militarily and economically. The strength of a main Kuomintang corps in the civil war was roughly equal to the total number of troops in Mongolia. The losses of the Kuomintang in any one of the three major campaigns were almost equivalent to the entire population of Mongolia. Therefore, after defeating the Japanese fascists, Mongolia’s border situation was not much safer. Moreover, as a weak country following the socialist path, why would it take the initiative to attack the powerful reactionaries? The theory that fascist elements claim Mongolia initiated attacks is as absurd as saying Ukraine initiated attacks on Russia. It is utterly ridiculous.
We learned in political economy that socialist countries pursue self-sufficiency, do not exploit their own people, nor oppress foreign peoples. At that time, Mongolia, as a socialist country established for more than 20 years, completed the transformation of its feudal economy in 1939. Socialist construction was underway with economic aid from the Soviet Union. Was it to actively provoke war?
Then it can only be the conspiracy of the Kuomintang reactionaries and American imperialists; they are trying to oppose the Liberation War by seizing public opinion.
At the same time, try to see if some benefits can be plundered from the Mongolian People’s Republic: The reactionary Kuomintang of Han chauvinism never gives up on Outer Mongolia, and the American imperialists want to undermine the socialist camp by digging into Outer Mongolia.
Perhaps the greatest victory of the reactionaries in this struggle over the border conflict is that they lived longer than the Mongolian revolutionary regime. Mongolia was reformed in the 1950s. But that bastard Song Xilian lived directly until after the restoration and became one of the reactionary figures supported by today’s Nazis.
But that’s all there is to it.
After all, in the end, the Mongolian people still defended the border and protected their homeland.
This is the most delightful thing.
