I have some life issues I want to discuss with everyone.
I am currently living at home with my grandmother. The factory I work at is also very close to home, only about ten minutes by electric bike. Life and work are very convenient. But I can’t keep living like this for too long, and I don’t know what my next step should be.
First, let me talk about the disadvantages of my current life. I am still in a parasitic state; although I am working, household chores and breakfast and dinner every day are all prepared by my grandmother. Usually, I hardly feel any pressure in life; after work, I don’t have to worry about anything. I live in my family’s house, so even if I lose my job, I have family support. Although it’s very comfortable and saves a lot of money and time, I think this kind of life is very detrimental to my ideological transformation.
I live in the countryside, where there is basically no decent industrial zone. The factory I am in now, although quite formal, has fewer than fifty workers, and is very small. It’s hard to interact with various kinds of people or participate in class struggle. I also can’t learn much about production technology here, nor can I build strength. It’s a bit too comfortable.
I really want to leave home and go to the county town or an industrial cluster, rent a place, and work independently. Even if the new job is worse than now, living independently is a big step forward. But I really have no idea where to go, what kind of job to look for, or how to find a place to live. I don’t understand these specific things at all.
Does anyone have any experience taking the first step out of the house?

I think it’s great that you have the awareness to improve yourself. I want to ask how much you know about the “county towns or industrial clusters” you want to go to, and what the situation is like. To avoid safety issues, you can speak more abstractly. For example, what are the average wages, rent situations, working conditions, and so on.
This… the biggest problem is that I don’t understand and don’t know how to go about it, so I’m at a loss. I think if I really want to go, I still need to rely on my parents to help find accommodation and work, and then gradually get familiar with and understand the place later.
I think that if you want to be independent from your family, you shouldn’t rely too much on your parents for help, but rather look for it yourself. For example, the minimum wage level of a place is usually available on government websites. Additionally, I think you could also consider going to some major industrial centers, such as the Pearl River Delta or the Yangtze River Delta. I’m not sure if you have the determination for this; workers in these areas are generally the most advanced. Furthermore, try to communicate more with your public contacts, ask them where the industrial zones near them are; they should know better than your parents.
Indeed, the workers should be more aware of these.
It is also recommended to communicate with colleagues about working outside, such as a few of my colleagues here, some of whom used to drive trucks, and others who have worked in other factories for several years or even over ten years. They know a lot about these matters.
Ask about the recent situation in Sanshui, has there been any progress on the plan to go to the city for work?
I don’t have a driver’s license yet. I plan to get my license first, then start going out, because once I leave home, it might be harder to find opportunities to learn. I also talked to my family about my thoughts, and they only suggested that I work at home for a while longer to save money, since once you draw the bow, there’s no turning back. They didn’t mean to discourage me. After getting my license, I will try to leave as soon as possible.
San Shui, be careful about borrowing a car to take the driving test. How long approximately can you not work after taking the driving test? I see from what you said about your recent life situation at People’s Square that it is a bit worrying.
Working while occasionally going to driving school, not going every day
If the new factory package includes accommodation, it might be considered depending on the situation. For renting, it might be better to look for apartments in areas with more job opportunities nearby using map software, then follow online rental tips and precautions, visit in person, or look for rental platforms with good reviews. Additionally, some residential communities may have advertisements posted by landlords themselves. For job searching, you can use recruitment apps like BOSS Zhipin (and if you really want to move to a certain city, you can first check the job situation there through these platforms). At the same time, you can search offline; having suitable transportation will save some time.
Maybe Sanshui can also do some housework while resting to exercise himself and share some of the family pressure?
It’s been so long, has Sanshui been looking for a factory outside? Or is he still getting his driver’s license?
…none at all. After researching for a while on how to apply for driving school, the enthusiasm faded, it felt too troublesome, so I just put it aside.
Unbelievable, then why don’t you quickly go to some big cities, since you don’t need to take a driver’s license test?
