The glamorous appearance cannot hide the mask of the exploiter; the power of women's liberation lies in the workers.

In 2022, Cui Lili, nearly 40 years old, was the Sales Director of Tianjin DeKe ZhiKong before suffering sexual assault by capitalist Wang Hao. The bourgeoisie paid her a high salary, and she accepted the bourgeoisie’s bribe, becoming a member of the worker aristocracy, continuing to live a prosperous and wealthy life. She and the company’s capitalists shared economic interests; under the money-driven buyout of the bourgeoisie, she claimed to want to “progress together” with the company, “watch it go public,” meaning she hoped to help the capitalists improve sales, realize surplus value, and gain a little more of the bourgeoisie’s leftovers, with a brighter “future.”
When she first met the company chairman Wang Hao, she initially believed, based on her worldview of complete bourgeoisification, that Wang Hao was a “trustworthy” person. However, in reality, what kind of “good person” could an old capitalist who has been struggling in a capitalist society for many years be? This old capitalist had long harbored malicious intentions towards Cui Lili. On the evening of September 22, 2023, when hosting another capitalist client, Wang Hao, who was usually adept at bourgeois social interactions and banquets, said he was about to “drink himself to death,” and sent a message to Cui Lili, ordering her to replace him and drink more with the client. After drinking some, Cui Lili became intoxicated and, thinking she should settle the bill quickly while she was still sober, tried to leave. However, the two capitalists, especially Wang Hao, did not intend to let her go easily. They degraded her as a so-called sex tool and commodity to serve them, forcing Cui Lili to continue drinking until she lost consciousness. Afterwards, Wang Hao took the unconscious Cui Lili to his hotel room and committed heinous sexual assault, causing her immense trauma. During this process, when Wang Hao took Cui Lili to his hotel room, a front desk staff member who knew Cui Lili from her multiple stays at the hotel, driven by simple worker kindness, repeatedly called Wang Hao’s room phone, saying Cui Lili should not have been staying in Wang Hao’s room. However, due to various reasons, tragedy still occurred.
Cui Lili once said she was wary of strangers like clients, but she once thought of Wang Hao as a “highly educated elite” who had worked hard to get to where he was, trusting his professionalism. Plus, he was her boss, so she thought, “If I don’t trust my leader, how can I fight alongside him?” We Marxists are certainly not a small group online barking at victims, accusing Cui Lili of being at fault for trusting the rapist capitalist Wang Hao’s subordinate. But we must also point out that Cui Lili’s view that Wang Hao was a “highly educated elite” who “worked hard” is absurd and reactionary; it only puts a noble moral mask on the bourgeoisie. Wang Hao is a Ph.D. from Tianjin University, a so-called “intelligent steering system electronic control research expert,” and the founder and CEO of Tianjin DeKe ZhiKong Co., Ltd., a bourgeois intellectual and capitalist. The value of commodities is determined by the labor embedded within them, and everyone’s labor capacity is limited. Clearly, Wang Hao’s income is extremely high, far exceeding that of ordinary workers by hundreds or thousands of times. His income is not really based on his “ability,” but on exploitation, the capital he controls, various scams he employs, and the connections he bribes. He earns hundreds of millions annually, backed by the blood and sweat of hundreds or thousands of workers. If he truly had “highly educated” qualities, it would only mean that as a capitalist, his “ability” to extract surplus value is “high.”
Wang Hao has cultivated the “morality” of extreme individualism of the bourgeoisie through his own practice of exploitation. He also regards women as tools to satisfy his endless personal lust, extending a dark hand toward Cui Lili. The day after the incident, Cui Lili, fully sober, became increasingly suspicious, but many memories of the assault that night had already been lost. She was also worried that she might have been drunk and voluntarily followed him into his room. She then asked Wang Hao to clarify the full details. Wang Hao’s explanation was absurd, claiming that Cui Lili vomited on her clothes and bed before he took her clothes off, but when asked for details, he could not answer. At that time, Cui Lili, due to her inability to overcome her weakness psychologically, did not directly ask more “explicit” questions. But later, she gradually recalled the scene of the assault that night. At this point, Wang Hao not only acted as if nothing had happened but also kept persuading her to stay and drink more with the client capitalist, showing a disgusting attitude of treating women as cheap sex tools. Cui Lili thought about her “family, reputation, and future,” and hesitated about reporting to the police. However, she gradually overcame this concern and decided to fight back. On the same day Wang Hao admitted to removing Cui Lili’s pants, she also submitted a leave request through the OA (digital office) system, citing “serious violation during official business trip.” The female leader Liu, who shared interests with the male capitalist Wang Hao, replied that in order to avoid increasing the impact, she needed to change the reason for leave to “compensatory leave, personal affairs.” But she did not agree and only told Liu via WeChat that she needed to take leave. Subsequently, through multiple investigations, especially the audio recording made by a neighboring guest on the night of the incident, the evidence of Wang Hao’s crime of rape was conclusive. On April 2, 2024, the Hangzhou Binjiang District Court in Zhejiang issued a criminal and civil verdict, sentencing Wang Hao to four years in prison for rape and ordering him to pay Cui Lili 3,000 yuan for psychiatric treatment at the People’s Hospital. However, the sentence was too lenient; Wang Hao might get a reduction, and upon release, he would still live a bourgeois life of luxury and debauchery. Cui Lili, after suffering sexual assault, developed severe psychological illnesses, and her mental pain remains intense.
“亲不亲,阶级分” (Whether kin or not, class division), for the company’s smooth listing, many scabs, bourgeoisie, and bourgeois elements (colleagues and leaders Cui Lili knew) chose to stand against her. Her previous direct female leader Liu, who supported her, also betrayed her, providing false testimony accusing Cui Lili of incompetence and negligence. Wang Hao also submitted numerous documents to “prove” that she was worried about being dismissed due to poor work performance, seducing and framing her to retaliate against her boss for high compensation. Additionally, Cui Lili was expelled from the company’s OA system and WeChat groups. A bourgeois shareholder even sent her a message urging her to prioritize company interests and profit above all, trying to turn her into a loyal bourgeois dog, aiming to completely soften her backbone. Now, the company has even dismissed Cui Lili, and she still faces the struggle against the company.
Many who have seen Cui Lili’s struggle stories think she is a role model for “professional women.” She herself said: “I also hope that sisters with similar experiences will not delay or hesitate after the incident, report to the police in time… I want to do something for sisters who have experienced similar things. This path is difficult, but I still want to try to help more sisters.” In fact, workplace sexual harassment and even sexual assault are chronic diseases of Chinese patriarchal society, but the true strength of women’s liberation does not lie in individual worker aristocratic women or bourgeois women, but in the hundreds of millions of oppressed workers and working women. Cui Lili verbally said she would “try to help more sisters,” but if she becomes a bourgeoisie or a capitalist, she is still standing against the vast majority of working women in the world. To achieve equal opportunity and promotion with men at work, becoming a bourgeois or capitalist “right,” is impossible without breaking out of capitalism’s framework. And without thoroughly opposing capitalism, the patriarchal system cannot be completely overthrown. Women should not just look upward; they should see the power of the masses.

This is a news commentary I wrote earlier. In fact, looking at it now, the reason why this victimized woman was able to successfully defend her rights is because she is part of the bourgeoisie, a worker aristocrat who has undergone bourgeoisification. Her conflict with capitalist Wang Hao can also be seen as an internal contradiction within the bourgeoisie. Moreover, because she is a sales director with the financial means to defend her rights. The official media of the China Reform (Zhongxiu) even specifically published Cui Lili’s rights protection story to showcase how much they value women’s rights. In reality, if a poor girl were truly victimized, it would be very difficult to defend her rights within the framework of Zhongxiu; many women have grievances but nowhere to seek justice, quietly buried in this old society.

In fact, Wang Hao also did not receive the appropriate punishment here, but Cui Lili was already satisfied and began to shout “Long live Zhongxiu.”

She is like this because the 中修 (Zhongxiu) is a bourgeois-ruled country, maintaining the interests of the bourgeoisie, so she naturally also has to uphold them.

I just took a look at Cui Lili’s Douyin. She has a video where she shares Lu Xun’s article “The Capitalist’s Dog of Loss”. In this video, she says it was her favorite article during her student days as a “angry youth”, and even now it reflects some aspects of contemporary society. She mentions that those crazy online victims-blaming scoundrels are just watching Wang Hao and other scoundrels who are more powerful and influential than Cui Lili, and are willing to speak for rapists, calling them “the dogs of the losing capitalist family”. Her words also reflect her contradictions as a worker aristocrat and bourgeoisie, and the gender contradictions within the bourgeoisie? But I find it hard to bear when she quotes Lu Xun’s article.

Because she doesn’t see herself as a worker aristocrat, she thinks she is just a “worker”. In fact, the bourgeoisie have a very serious view that if you say they benefit without labor, they will feel “wronged”, thinking “I also work, I also contribute ‘managerial labor’, and I receive ‘managerial remuneration’, isn’t that right?” They believe that only shareholders, landlords, usurers who periodically receive dividends are benefiting without labor. In reality, this is the influence of bourgeois ideas, which defend their exploitation by failing to see that all their income comes from the surplus value exploited from workers, instead viewing surplus value as profit, which is the income obtained after investing all capital, and then dividing surplus value into corporate profit and interest (dividends can be seen as a special form of interest). They think that the right to operate capital and the ownership of capital are two different things, that those who “manage” industries should earn their income, and that the former has “managed labor” to contribute, while the latter is “due to investing money and thus must get a return”. As a result, they feel “I am also working for the board of directors”, and then self-consciously believe they are also “workers”.
The same applies to gender oppression. Originally, the oppressive nature of the bourgeoisie was divided into male gender oppression and female gender oppression, which makes it easy to confuse class lines. People often have the mistaken impression that bourgeois women are “pure” oppressed women, not to mention that among bourgeois women there are those willing to fight rapists and those unwilling. Cui Lili and others also feel self-consciously that they represent “all women”. If she betrays women’s liberation, she might also feel very wronged and say, “I am also fighting, I am also making an effort,” and that those “idle dogs” are guilty of victim-blaming, and she is different from them.

Clearly, it was her class status that allowed her to win the case, but she instead thought it was because as a woman she could “struggle” and succeed, already considering herself a “oppressed woman” and completely forgetting that it was her position as the oppressor that gave her the ability to struggle and succeed.

Some bourgeois feminism likes to say “girls help girls,” which is a manifestation of ignoring class issues. In fact, the facts of many victims’ experiences can strongly refute their fallacies.

In reality, she also thinks that this company can make her money, so she also thinks that the old capitalist is “not bad.” In fact, many people who seem very “normal” or “good” in capitalist society are secretly harming others’ interests, then pretending to be honest. I have seen a student worker washing dishes at my school part-time job, who looks very normal, but is actually a gambling addict, spending days and nights in drunkenness and even seemingly engaging in prostitution, which is very frightening.

In Nazi society, these rapists are all sentenced too lightly.

Indeed, if it were the working people, the matter would probably have been suppressed by the bourgeoisie before it even came to light.

GHG actually feels like sometimes selfish people put up this banner to gain support from other women, and then when it’s their turn to help others, they don’t help anymore.

Yesterday, I saw a news report: On Monday this week, the local court in Paris officially ruled in favor of French actress Adele Haenel, who accused director Christophe Ruggia of sexual assault. The court found Ruggia guilty of sexual assault and sentenced him to four years in prison (two years probation, with the other two years to be served under house arrest with an electronic ankle bracelet), awarded Haenel compensation for emotional distress and medical expenses, and prohibited him from working with minors for the next five years.
It’s just a case of a French bourgeois actress who suffered rape by a director, took five years to fight the lawsuit, and finally won, although the director was only sentenced to four years in prison. However, many bourgeois women in the comment section still boast about this outcome, calling her a “real woman,” “a woman among women,” and “the female among females.” Honestly, I find this a bit repulsive. Because these people only look upwards; the reason Adele was able to achieve this insignificant victory (referring to two years probation and two years house arrest) is simply because she is also bourgeois. There are countless proletarian women living lives of abuse, rape, beating, and hard domestic labor, but these bourgeois feminists don’t care about that. They only focus on bourgeois women, believing that the forces of resistance are all in these glamorous women who oppress proletarian men and women.

Just like many bourgeois feminists praise Zhang Guimei, praise Dong Mingzhu, and even say that women should participate in politics and climb higher, their remarks are very disgusting.

In fact, they are not truly considering the majority of oppressed women; they just think that women’s status affects their opportunism, and they need to climb up quickly. They not only want to be spiritual men but also want to be bourgeoisie like male capitalists.

Indeed, your summary is quite insightful, essentially just wanting to be a spiritual man of the bourgeoisie. It really is quite repulsive.

I thought of a bourgeois woman I knew before. She kept saying she had created a group to bring women together to realize their value. Then I saw her own clothing store, where the staff only had two days off a month. She wanted to rest, but on that day the bourgeois woman happened to have something to do, so she kept urging her to work overtime, even saying she would give overtime pay or something. I felt a bit uncomfortable inside, as she was talking about women’s liberation but without hesitation urging her female employees to work overtime.
