Recently, many education departments across China have announced their intention to guarantee weekends off for high school students, and many high schools have begun to implement a two-day weekend system. As early as October last year, the Ministry of Education, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Health Commission, and other departments, issued the “Implementation Opinions on Fully Promoting the Two-Day Weekend System for Ordinary High Schools,” clearly stating that starting from the fall semester of 2025, all ordinary high schools nationwide will fully implement a weekend two-day off system. However, as the general headquarters of the bourgeois educational line, the Ministry of Education of Zhongxiu has always been promoting the opportunistic path of “studying well to become an official.” Why would it suddenly have a change of conscience? Since this policy was announced, many students expressed support, but there are also many students who questioned it and asked: “Can schools cancel the voluntary leave form?” It is evident that many students also realize that the numerous “reducing burden” policies introduced under the revisionist educational line are merely superficial projects in different forms. Weekend tutoring is often renamed or given the label of “voluntary,” but in the end, everything remains the same. In late February, Henan Ruzhou No. 1 High School announced to “respond to the new regulations,” but just two weeks later, during a “parents’ meeting” held on March 7, the school required parents to sign a “voluntary weekend school stay guarantee” on behalf of students.

;Where there is oppression, there is resistance. Last weekend (March 8), over a thousand students at the school launched protests, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the school’s forced implementation of the weekend “voluntary” stay policy. They declared in WeChat groups, “Student xxx, after consulting with parents, will go home this week.” Subsequently, the angry students further escalated their protests. They tore up textbooks, homework books, and other study materials and threw them from the school building, shouting slogans like “Go home.” Currently, the official response from Ruzhou No. 1 High School has not been made. However, videos of the student protests at Ruzhou No. 1 High School have been widely taken down from platforms like Douyin. It shows that even peaceful protests by students cause great alarm for the crumbling Zhongxiu. At present, students’ resistance has taken a relatively mild form of peaceful protest. However, the actions of students resisting the bourgeoisie must be affirmed. The broad masses of petty bourgeoisie, especially students, must also unite with workers and peasants, master Marxism, and recognize their true enemy—the reactionary rule of Zhongxiu—and truly contribute their strength to the revolution.
