From Trump's interview, the new Munich Agreement of American imperialism

Creation: Proletarian Liberation Struggle Association Historical Materialism Group

On December 8th, local time in the United States, Trump gave an interview to an American TV station. During the interview, although Trump still talked nonsense, he was forced to make some “honest” explanations in the official TV interview before his election, thus exposing the imperialist ambitions of the US to maintain its fragile world hegemony through the Trump administration, sell out the national interests of the Ukrainian people, and use weak nations as bargaining chips to appease Russia.

When the host asked whether Trump would reduce “aid” to Ukraine during his term, Trump replied “possibly.” Saying “possibly” actually means “definitely,” because Trump never wavers when it comes to promises he believes he can easily give. For example, Trump used very absolute terms like “within twenty-four hours” and “must” to end the Russia-Ukraine war, and openly declared “we need to build a wall” regarding “illegal” immigration. As expected, Trump immediately added a “of course” after “possibly.” It shows that the host’s sudden question caught Trump off guard, causing him to habitually evade with a vague “possibly,” but once aware of the situation, he quickly gave a positive reply.

It is already a well-known fact that Trump wants to cut down US imperialist “aid” to Ukraine. The reason for this is because the strategy of US imperialism to maintain its world hegemony has changed.

Historical materialism believes that certain figures are always products of a particular class and social conditions. Individuals in class society can never act outside the interests of their class, regardless of their subjective thoughts. Unlike Trump who won in 2016, Biden who won in 2020 represents a different ruling strategy of the American bourgeoisie, different from full-scale war. In foreign policy, during Trump’s tenure, while pursuing appeasement with Russia and North Korea, he also intensified hegemonic activities against China, launched trade wars, and continuously strengthened economic sanctions and political offensive against the pro-Iranian regime, even resorting to drone assassinations like that of Qasem Soleimani in 2020. This greatly narrowed the scope of US enemies while increasing hegemonic conflicts with a small group of imperialist powers and their puppets daring to challenge US world hegemony. Why is this? It can only be attributed to the fact that since the collapse of the Soviet Union, US imperialism has been deeply mired in wars in Arab countries and Afghanistan, consuming vast national strength without establishing stable control locally. The global resistance against US imperialism has dealt heavy blows to its arrogance. Outside of Russian imperialism, the rise of the Chinese revisionist social imperialism in 2012 has suddenly posed a serious threat to US global hegemony. Under such conditions, especially under the blow from the masses worldwide, the exhausted US imperialism can only choose to “shrink” the front, ease hostility with some enemies, and focus on confronting the small number of imperialist powers and their puppets that threaten US hegemony the most. Thus, history repeats itself: just as the US eased relations with China in the 1970s, the Trump who represented this strategy also began to ease hostility with Russian imperialism and its puppet China.

Under these circumstances, now deeply involved in the Russia-Ukraine war and the Palestine-Israel conflict (which is essentially a revolutionary war of the Palestinian people and all progressive forces against US imperialist puppets Israel, with a progressive nature of national liberation war, so calling it a “war” is more appropriate than “conflict”). The Chinese and Russian imperialist bloc calls it the “Palestine-Israel conflict” to belittle the Palestinian people’s role as the main force of the Palestinian national liberation war, portraying it as a minor dispute between two forces with no significance, secretly opposing Hamas-led armed struggle, and denying the justice of the Palestinian people’s armed resistance. Meanwhile, the term “Israel-Hamas war” used by US imperialism exposes its support for Israeli fascists, slanders Hamas, and maligns the Palestinian people’s righteous struggle as a narrow “religious war” or “terrorist attack” with malicious intent. Therefore, the correct terminology should oppose the imperialist intentions of both sides, and “Palestine-Israel war” is the most appropriate.

The sinking US imperialism faces the same dilemma—unable to spend vast resources “aid” Ukraine and fight for control over Ukraine’s colonies against Russian imperialism, while increasing “aid” to Israel, intensifying suppression of Palestinian armed struggle, and focusing on confronting the aggressive Chinese revisionist social imperialism. It must be admitted that fighting on three fronts has exceeded US national strength, so the bourgeoisie can only reach a temporary truce with Russian imperialism, concentrate on fighting China, uphold the crumbling Israeli regime, and safeguard its core interests in the Arab region. Under these conditions, reducing “aid” to the pro-Ukrainian regime and letting Ukraine suffer at the hands of Russian invaders is inevitable.

Later, when the host asked whether Trump had already met with Putin, he evasively said he “had not recently” spoken with Putin, repeatedly dodging the specific question of whether he had spoken with Putin since his election, saying “I don’t want to talk about that,” or “I don’t want to discuss this,” showing guilt and even shamelessly saying “I don’t want to do anything that might hinder negotiations” (referring to negotiations with Russian imperialism on Ukraine). This fully demonstrates that even if Trump truly has not spoken with Putin, the ugly face of collusion between US imperialism and Russian imperialism to betray Ukrainian national interests and sacrifice the territory sovereignty of weak nations has been fully exposed. After this, Trump became more emotional, violently interrupted the host’s questions, turned the interview into his personal speech, and recited “peace scriptures,” trying every means to whitewash the crimes of trading Ukraine’s national interests for US imperialism. He falsely claimed that “the number of people killed in that war [Russia-Ukraine war] is unprecedented,” “cities have been razed,” “the country has been destroyed,” “soldiers, young and beautiful soldiers, tens of thousands are being killed,” “both sides have hundreds of thousands of casualties,” exaggerating the horror of war and intimidating the Ukrainian people who dare to continue resisting, demanding they lay down their arms, surrender to Russian imperialism, and accept the reality of Russian annexation of eastern Ukraine, or their country will only face “total destruction” and “ruin.” Yes, Trump did not forget to “popularize” the casualties of the Russia-Ukraine war, claiming from somewhere that Russian casualties reached 500,000 and Ukrainian casualties 400,000, attempting to exaggerate how “brutal” the war is.

Trump’s peace fallacies are completely untenable. Setting aside that Trump, who claims to oppose war, openly supports Israel fascists’ massacres of Palestinians, is it enough to blindly oppose all wars just because they cause casualties? For the Ukrainian people, the war they face is not a meaningless death march, but a fight against the Russian imperialist robbers who continuously eat away at Ukraine’s sacred territory, attempt to annex Ukraine, and rebuild the Tsarist Russian Empire. The Ukrainian people’s willingness to fight against Russian imperialism is rooted in their firm refusal to let their territory be swallowed by Russian imperialist invasion, and their desire not to suffer at the hands of Russian imperialism. The Ukrainian people, who love freedom, are fighting a just national liberation war, which is beyond reproach. If there is anything wrong with Ukraine’s side in the war, it is precisely that the Ukrainian people should not be subjected to the one-sided war route dictated by US imperialism and its Ukrainian puppets, but should more thoroughly take up arms and oppose Russian imperialist aggression. Trump’s attempt to attack the justice of Ukraine’s resistance to Russia is absolutely impossible!

On the other hand, history has shown that if concessions are made to Russian imperialism, there will be no way out, and true peace will not be achieved. Once upon a time, the reactionary sellout government of Ukraine meekly capitulated to Russia’s annexation of Crimea, allowing Russia’s evil scheme to succeed, thinking that this would satisfy Russian imperialist ambitions. But greedy Russian imperialism was not satisfied, instead inciting traitors in eastern Ukraine to create so-called “independence” movements, and after annexing Crimea, attempting to seize Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Luhansk, and Kherson provinces one after another. Only the fierce struggle of the Ukrainian people forced the Ukrainian traitor government to resist, preventing Russia’s complete annexation of Ukraine’s eastern regions. Confronted with these facts, imperialist leaders like Trump now talk about “peace” by merely reaching an agreement and ceasefire, as if Russian imperialism has suddenly reformed and sworn off war. Isn’t this absurd? Therefore, “Struggle for unity through fight, unity will survive; compromise for unity, unity will perish.”[1] If Trump’s so-called peace between the Russian and Ukrainian nations is to be truly realized, it can only be achieved through the relentless struggle of the Ukrainian people to expel Russian invaders, unite with the Russian people, and force Russian imperialism to recognize peaceful coexistence with Ukraine under the difficult internal and external circumstances. Trump’s peace utopia to oppose revolutionary war is absolutely impossible!

The current state of US imperialism is just like the British imperialism of that time. Once, British imperialist leader Chamberlain, in order to achieve the heinous goal of the British bourgeoisie’s anti-Soviet, anti-communist, and anti-people policies, colluded with the German fascist leader Hitler, known to all, and sold out the interests of weak European nations with the Munich Agreement, allowing Hitler to invade these small European countries, maintaining the “Sun Never Sets” empire of British imperialism. Today’s Trump is just like Chamberlain, attempting to sacrifice the weak Ukrainian nation, colluding with Putin to satisfy the insatiable imperialist ambitions of Putin and maintain the crumbling US world hegemony. However, “a country must be independent, nations must be liberated, the people must revolutionize, and this has become an irresistible historical trend.” The Ukrainian people’s demand to expel Russian invaders, recover lost territories, pursue democracy internally, and defend sovereignty externally is something that US imperialism’s schemes cannot stop. Ultimately, the fate of the world is not decided by one or two superpowers, but by the people. The evil plots of US and Russian imperialism will inevitably fail, and the final victory will belong to the Ukrainian people. They will inherit the glorious revolutionary tradition of the Ukrainian people throughout history and achieve the true liberation of the entire nation.

Could you tell me specifically how you view the nature (their relationship with the people of Gaza) and actions of Hamas before the war, during the war, and after the ceasefire? For example, how do you interpret Hamas’s call for establishing an Islamic state under Sharia law in the Charter? Additionally, some media have used video evidence to accuse Hamas soldiers of raping Israeli female soldiers and attacking civilians on the day of the “Flood Operation.”

On domestic social media, a large pink group of supporters (or surface supporters) of Hamas mostly originate from racist/revenge motives, believing that massacring Jews is justified, further leading to their glorification and sympathy for Nazi Germany during World War II.

Groups supporting Israel (or including the United States) consider such attacks on civilians and women as acts of terrorism, and believe that such “terrorist organizations” should not receive any support.

How do you view this organization and its actions, or do these things really exist?

I remember there was a related post on the forum discussing this issue.
Hamas belongs to the national bourgeois revolutionary faction; they insist on the national independence movement. However, there are also factions within it, and Fatah is now completely a surrendering faction.
As for what Western media says about Hamas atrocities, just take it as a joke. The Israeli army bombs hospitals and kills women and children every day. They can fabricate any fake news they want; fascists have no bottom line.
Hamas is a national bourgeois revolutionary organization leading the Palestinian national liberation movement. Although they are bourgeois revolutionaries, they directly oppose imperialism. Their struggle is part of the world proletarian revolution, and we should support them.
As for what is called a terrorist organization, imperialist countries have never had any principles in this regard. They can easily label any faction fighting for national independence and against imperialist oppression as a terrorist organization. The real terrorist organizations are actually those they support; Al-Qaeda was supported by U.S. imperialism itself, and the current Afghan Taliban was also supported by the Chinese revisionists thirteen years ago.

Hamas is a bourgeois revolutionary faction, and their struggle is considered part of the global national liberation movement. As for the ceasefire event, you can check the news comments on the forum, where it has been discussed. The original Hamas charter did contain some religious content, but this was essentially just a facade as a bourgeois revolutionary faction, influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is its predecessor. In the new Hamas platform, it has gradually begun to adopt slogans like “liberty, equality, fraternity” once promoted by past bourgeois revolutionary groups.
Pink supports Hamas not to endorse the national liberation struggle, but simply to oppose U.S. imperialism and to demand that China and the revisionist regime take control of Palestine as its new colonizer. This can be seen from their attitude towards China’s so-called “aid to Palestine” and the “two-state solution.” They vigorously promote these ideas, claiming that China’s plan helps the Palestinian people and maintains world peace, but in reality, China’s actions amount to demanding Hamas to cede land and seek peace with U.S. imperialists and Israeli gangs, essentially seeking a quick peace (the two-state solution is essentially a de facto acknowledgment of Israel’s colonial rights in Palestine). True Marxists and revolutionaries have always demanded the complete territory of Palestine from the river to the sea, a stance supported during the socialist period.
Regarding terrorist activities, it cannot be denied that Hamas has indeed carried out such acts, which are detached from the people and should not be supported—such as suicide bombings and kidnappings. However, this is not an excuse to support the U.S.-Israeli gangs. Look at the atrocities committed by the U.S. and Israel in Palestine: children displaced, hospitals and schools bombed, and civilians forced to survive in a tiny strip of land. Isn’t this a large-scale terror campaign against Palestinians? Pointing fingers at Hamas for terrorism while ignoring the atrocities of the U.S. and Israel is unreasonable. Terrorist methods are commonly used by bourgeois revolutionaries (also because they are detached from the people), from the populist assassinations of Tsarist Russia, to the Qing dynasty’s United League members assassinating officials, and now to Palestinian groups using human bombs and kidnappings to threaten Israel. We cannot deny their revolutionary nature solely because they use terror.
As for Hamas’s atrocities, that is even more absurd. Clearly, it is the Israeli fascist army that rapes women and massacres children, yet they smear Hamas as a murderous villain—this is a classic imperialist tactic.

Hamas is a national bourgeoisie, and in some aspects, they also use incorrect means of struggle, conducting indiscriminate attacks. This also makes it impossible to unite the working masses of Israel to continuously oppose the Israeli government. However, who is the real butcher and the true war murderer is clear at a glance. Many of Hamas’s “atrocities” are deliberately slandered by the Israeli government. Incorrect methods of struggle can have negative effects on national liberation. For example, the Palestinian organization Black September in the 20th century turned the Munich Olympics into the “Munich Massacre” demanding the release of Palestinian hostages held by Israel, but their actions did not achieve the release of the hostages. On the contrary, Israel subsequently carried out numerous frantic assassinations against Palestinian liberation organizations, including but not limited to Black September.

Dr. Long Zhifei makes a lot of sense. I think I can add some specific examples to some points made by Long Zhifei.
Regarding the point of “Islamic state under Sharia law,” it cannot simply be viewed through religious doctrines alone; rather, its actual content must be examined, such as the specific governing policies stipulated in the Hamas Charter, how Hamas actually governs in Gaza, and so on. Because religion is ultimately derived from certain economic bases, and religious doctrines are only produced to serve the interests of specific classes; they are not immutable. In actual implementation, they must be strictly enforced, partially enforced, or not enforced at all according to the class interests involved. For example, Islamic law explicitly states that Muslims should not lend at interest. However, when economic development leads some people to become impoverished to the point where they must borrow from others, Muslim lenders begin to find ways to circumvent the law, such as the so-called “sale and leaseback,” where Muslim borrowers sell a property, like a house, to a Muslim lender at a price equivalent to the principal of the loan. The lender then rents the property back to the borrower, with the rent serving as the interest on the loan. This way, Muslims can bypass religious law and indirectly lend at interest. This method has kept the interest-based lending industry in Islamic regions thriving, rather than weakening due to Islamic law; in fact, it has become more prosperous with the polarization within Muslim communities. Other methods, such as markup contracts, profit and loss sharing, forward trading, etc., are also widely used in interest lending, details of which can be found in this article: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s?__biz=MzI5MDQ0MTY1Ng==&mid=2247576431&idx=4&sn=20b828ed68fa64310dcf217e2b49e1fd
Furthermore, Islam explicitly states that Muhammad is the last prophet to descend to Earth, which was originally a decree by the Arab ruling classes to prevent impoverished Muslims from claiming to be prophets and organizing rebellions against the ruling classes under that pretext—essentially a doctrine of repression. However, due to ongoing class struggles, impoverished Muslim masses always find it hard to endure oppression and tend to rebel. Therefore, when they cannot claim to be prophets like the followers of Christianity, Judaism, or Buddhism, they exploit the Islamic doctrine about the approaching “Day of Judgment,” where the “Mahdi” (meaning “guide”) will descend to lead Muslims in cleansing society of injustice, organizing crowds under the name of “Mahdi” and launching uprisings, which heavily strikes at the ruling classes within Muslim society.
Additionally, Islam does indeed prescribe a low status for women, but there are cases of women holding power in the Arab world. The famous Abbasid Empire once produced a notable “Empress Dowager” figure, Hazarun. To seize power, Hazarun used a phrase from Islamic teachings about respecting mothers as a basis for her rule, making herself a legitimate ruler of the empire—something that, according to religious doctrine, was not proper.
These examples all demonstrate that religious doctrines can be arbitrarily distorted by people to serve their own interests, and religious teachings can be interpreted in ways that benefit particular interests, regardless of their correctness. Hamas, of course, is no exception. Their interpretation of Islamic teachings in the Hamas Charter has little to do with the original Islamic doctrine.
So, specifically, how does Hamas discuss their political stance in the 1988 Hamas Charter? Undeniably, the 1988 Hamas Charter has a strong religious atmosphere, overly emphasizing the interests of a bourgeois sect and neglecting the unity of all classes and strata in Palestinian society. However, overall, it still retains a revolutionary bourgeois character.
For example, the Charter explicitly supports the Palestinian national liberation movement and secular resistance groups like Fatah, even considering Fatah as their closest predecessor, describing their relationship as “son to father, brother to brother, relative to relative,” which exceeds the scope of original Islamic law. According to feudal ideas in Islamic law, Muslims are fundamentally unlikely to have such deep friendships with infidels or heretics, let alone atheists. This reveals Hamas’s true attitude toward Islam: they still prioritize national interests over religious doctrines. They are not willing to sacrifice the Palestinian national struggle against Zionism to adhere strictly to religious doctrines; instead, they even use religious doctrines as tools to justify actions that contradict Islamic fundamentalism!
The same applies to education. Although Hamas advocates Islamic education, they do not reject modern science and culture. Rather, they use religion as a means to ensure Palestinian intellectuals remain loyal to the anti-Zionist cause. While this approach still has the nature of deceiving the people, objectively it aligns with the Palestinian people’s desire to reject imperialist influence and unite against Zionism. If the Palestinian people are numbed by movies that glorify Israel, Judaism, and imperialism, who will resist Zionist oppression? Before advanced communist ideas spread in Palestine, calling on people to unite under Islamic principles to resist Zionism was an inevitable historical development. This historical limitation should not be overly harsh.
Most importantly, Hamas even “opens” quite generous conditions in the Hamas Charter for uniting with infidels and foreign democrats: as long as their fundamental goal is to oppose Zionism, Hamas welcomes them to fight together. This fully demonstrates that Hamas, as a faction of the bourgeois national class, remains fundamentally bourgeois rather than an abstract Islamic organization. To achieve national independence, religious disputes can be postponed. That is the essence of seeking common ground while reserving differences.
Thus, although Hamas advocates establishing Islam as the state religion, it has not become xenophobic or established a theocratic state ruled solely by Muslims. Instead, it maintains enough tolerance for other Palestinian forces resisting Zionism. As for the 2017 Hamas new platform, it further downplays the religious aspect, instead embedding a large amount of bourgeois humanitarian content, almost directly declaring that it no longer believes in Allah, prophets, or the Quran, but in the “liberty, equality, fraternity” of 18th-century French bourgeoisie. This is a clear case of “forgetting one’s roots.”

I would like to add some information about the events where Israel committed atrocities against the Palestinian people, as well as a clarification regarding a false news report fabricated by Israel claiming “Hamas massacred civilians.”
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz exposed the heinous massacre committed by Israeli troops in the Gaza “Nitzarim Corridor,” where all Gaza residents passing through the area, regardless of age or gender, were killed, even with different units holding killing contests.

At the beginning of the war, Israeli troops bombed the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, causing a tragic death toll of 500 people, most of whom were women and children.

Israeli media previously fabricated false news about “Hamas beheading babies,” which was later debunked by the Israeli military itself.
