On February 20, 2026, a 27-year-old woman from Anhua County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province, chose to receive an infusion at the local People’s Hospital accompanied by her family due to tonsillitis. The local hospital, without knowing or inquiring whether the woman had any drug allergies and without preparing necessary emergency measures, directly administered the infusion. After the infusion, the woman went into an allergic shock due to an allergy to ceftriaxone; the accompanying medical staff immediately removed the needle and left, without taking any effective emergency measures, causing the woman to miss the golden rescue time and die from the failed rescue.
Anhua County People’s Hospital is a third-grade B-level hospital, a large hospital with excellent medical conditions; however, the medical staff working there showed no basic first aid knowledge or procedures when facing anaphylactic shock; moreover, they did not inquire about the patient’s allergy history or conduct skin tests beforehand. The hospital bears full responsibility for this incident.
When faced with questions from the family about why they did not inquire about allergy history or perform skin tests beforehand, and why they did not provide immediate rescue, the hospital shamelessly claimed no responsibility, stating that they had done their best to rescue and that their actions conformed to national regulations, and that the patient died due to her own allergy. This is a distortion of facts and a manipulation of truth! Even the National Health Commission’s “Guidelines for Skin Testing of β-Lactam Antibiotics (2021 Edition)” states that even if hospitals do not perform skin tests, they must thoroughly inquire about the patient’s allergy history before infusion and be equipped with emergency drugs and devices for allergic reactions, and medical staff should be familiar with severe allergy treatment measures. I ask, has Anhua County People’s Hospital done even one of these? Can it be said that they bear no responsibility?
Moreover, while denying any responsibility, Anhua County People’s Hospital proposed to sign a “humanitarian compensation” agreement of 110,000 yuan with the woman’s family, with the condition that the family admit that the hospital bears no responsibility; if the family does not admit, they are not allowed to see the woman’s body. The barbaric and unreasonable behavior of the hospital reflects their extremely reactionary capitalist logic: “…apart from naked利益关系, cold and ruthless ‘cash transactions’ are the only connections between people.” They regard the woman’s life as a commodity that can be measured by money, believing that paying a certain amount can settle everything! The State Health Commission nominally investigates this matter, but no news has been released even after the family signed the agreement. Their arrogance is perhaps because the fascist state of China, represented by Zhongxiu, is their greatest backing.
They claim to be a so-called People’s Hospital, with the prefix “People,” but they cannot cure diseases or save lives. A 27-year-old woman, whose parents are both disabled, died simply because the medical staff lacked first aid knowledge and a complete emergency process. Their true concern is not their incompetence, which led to the preventable death, but rather the potential damage to their reputation from public opinion, and they try to force the family to admit no fault to absolve themselves. They do not belong to the broad Chinese people and are not truly serving the masses. Even with seemingly excellent medical conditions, they cannot cure common diseases of workers and peasants, and even kill people for profit.
In contrast, in socialist China, the military-level medical team implementing Mao Zedong’s revolutionary line, although only in their thirties and less technically skilled than a county hospital at that time, was able to cure Zhang Qiujü, sentenced to death by bourgeois experts, and after removing a tumor over 45 kilograms, ensured her ability to work, creating a medical miracle. What did they rely on? The mass line under the socialist system. The medical team was committed to saving their class sisters and serving the people.
In today’s capitalist China, Anhua County People’s Hospital, a third-grade B-level hospital with top-tier medical resources second only to a top-tier A-level hospital, can still kill a patient with just tonsillitis! How many hospitals like Anhua County People’s Hospital are not serving the people or workers but are only trying to extort the last penny from the laboring masses? The recent Xiaoxi incident, where the lead surgeon extended the surgery for personal gain, enlarged the incision, and caused the death of a baby girl, is similar. Its root cause is capitalism—hospitals that never consider saving lives but only seek profit.
Anhua County People’s Hospital believes it can settle the matter with 110,000 yuan in “compensation,” but it has long exposed its ugly face. The hospital’s actions not only show its indifference to patients’ lives but also prove its adherence to capitalist logic that places money above life. This is an outrageous fact! The behavior of Anhua County People’s Hospital is not only an insult to the deceased but also a betrayal of the people. We must speak out for every innocent person who died under the reactionary capitalist medical system! We cannot tolerate such cold-blooded bourgeois hospitals continuing to exist! We demand justice and severe punishment for irresponsible bourgeois doctors! We do not want compensation; we want socialism! We want not only to completely destroy this profit-over-life medical system but also to overthrow the capitalist society that continually produces such tragedies!
