Female clinic assaulted, man retaliates in comment section

ㅤㅤ  On November 10th, a woman named Gao Ting (pseudonym) was assaulted by a male doctor while receiving treatment at a traditional Chinese medicine clinic in Minhang District, Shanghai. Before the incident, she had undergone 10 acupuncture-related procedures at this clinic and trusted the male doctor. On the day of the incident, Gao Ting returned to the clinic for gynecological treatment. The male doctor told her he would apply medication to her private area. She lay on the bed waiting for the doctor to apply the medication, but unexpectedly, the doctor took off his pants and assaulted her. After noticing something was wrong, she refused the doctor twice, and then the doctor left. Since there was no one else in the clinic at the time, Gao Ting, to prevent further harm, dared not shout for help and forcibly left after pretending to be calm, then reported the case the next day. Currently, the male doctor has been detained. After this case was exposed, Gao Ting faced countless attacks. Supporters of the victim-blaming theory poured dirt on her: some blamed Gao Ting for not being cautious, for going alone to see a male doctor for gynecological issues; some even falsely accused Gao Ting of “retracting her statement and reporting the next day after cooperating,” claiming it was “one slap not making a sound,” or that “reporting the next day is common knowledge, and the money was not enough.” Those who spoke out in the comment section to defend Gao Ting were labeled as “female fists” (female chauvinists). As a female victim who endured such a painful experience, she was further slandered, vilified, and attacked, being called “willing participants who regret afterward,” or “a stinky egg that flies are attracted to.” The reckless men in the comment section, spewing vicious words, will never understand the pain of female victims, nor do they want to. They hide behind a facade of righteousness, playing the role of “gentlemen” pointing fingers at victims. These petty right-wing men, obsessed with pornography, see all women as distorted by porn—only knowing sex and promiscuity—and vent their degenerated thoughts everywhere.

ㅤㅤ  “I’ve been depressed these days, can’t eat, can’t work normally. I had health issues and sought treatment from him, but now I feel worse physically and mentally, and I don’t know what to do. My family also advises me not to speak out. I really don’t know what to do,” Gao Ting’s plea for help on social media echoes the voices of countless female victims. They have nowhere to vent their suffering, no justice to seek, and if they endure in silence, they are accused of being willing; if they resist, they are bitten back and smeared with dirt. Perhaps they want to seek help from their families, but in Confucian households, parents fear their daughters becoming cheap commodities for sale, so they often force them to swallow their grievances and suffer in silence. In such a society, where is the way out for women?

ㅤㅤㅤㅤ  Do these people sincerely advocate for justice? Are they truly righteous heroes? Are they really defending innocent doctors? “There is no love without reason, and no hatred without reason”[1]. These people share the same class interests as the male doctor; they collude and support this capitalist patriarchal society: they indulge in prostitution, thinking they can insult women’s dignity with money; they commit rape both inside and outside marriage without regard for consent; they believe oppression and exploitation are justified, because they are shameless oppressors in gender relations.
