Diabetic foot turned into detoxification scam: When will the deception end?

Creation: Political Economy Group of the Proletarian Liberation Struggle Association

A person with the online name “Zou Jian Lun Dao” claims that his mother has had diabetes for over 20 years and has been taking hypoglycemic drugs. In May this year, he was misled by Western medicine and took three types of hypoglycemic drugs, nearly causing her death. After using only traditional Chinese medicine and moxibustion on his mother for two months, his mother developed a water blister the size of a baby’s fist on Shen Sanli (a point on the lower leg). One day, the blister quickly turned into an abscess. His mother thought it was an infection, but Zou Jian said that this abscess did not drain pus, was quite hard when pressed, and was the detoxification of metformin (a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes) expelled by his pure Chinese medicine. Therefore, Zou Jian continued giving her Chinese medicine to prevent infection at the broken site, and after half a month, the area began to scab. He claims that Western medicine would definitely diagnose this as an infection, require her to be hospitalized and treated with antibiotics, and then possibly amputate. He firmly insists that those abscesses are the toxins expelled by his mother and claims that her health has improved after detoxification. However, from the pictures, the abscess is definitely not a toxin but a manifestation of skin decay after diabetic ulceration. The so-called “detox reaction” is very likely due to his unauthorized discontinuation of metformin and other anti-diabetic drugs, leading to diabetic foot.

This person claiming to practice pure Chinese medicine and engaging in deception is certainly not an isolated case. Previously, in April 2023, he claimed that he used moxibustion to move toxins from deep within a patient’s liver to the surface of the skin and took photos to show that the pus spots after moxibustion were toxins hidden deep in the liver, which could develop into cancer if it continued. He strongly praised moxibustion as the highest-level treatment in Chinese medicine. He said that current hospital Chinese medicine practitioners are all fake, only causing harm, and that real efficacy can only be seen in pure Chinese medicine, especially those who do not learn Western medicine. These are classic retrograde remarks, very common in contemporary Chinese medicine.

They reject all progress in modern medicine, believing that returning to Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor) is the true Chinese medicine, and that real Chinese medicine can surpass all scientific and technological limitations and cure all diseases. At the same time, he fabricated fallacies claiming that people who take Western medicine, hypoglycemic, and antihypertensive drugs long-term smell bad, and that the elderly smell is actually caused by Western drugs rotting their internal organs. People like Zou Jian are not few in the current Chinese medical community, but their claimed efficacy only exists in their own mythical stories. They love to criticize hospital Chinese medicine for poor efficacy and Western medicine as useless. However, if their methods were truly effective, they would have long since opened clinics, branded themselves with a prestigious sign, recruited patients nationwide, and made a fortune. Their reason for advocating returning to Huangdi is because they have nothing else. They are unwilling to learn modern medicine, and their concern is not patient safety but their own fame and profit. They actually want to be employed as senior directors in public hospitals, eager to hang a sign and enjoy endless profits from gullible patients, but they cannot achieve this. So they desperately belittle hospital Chinese medicine. When they cannot get grapes, they say the grapes are sour; they belittle others to elevate themselves. But this does not mean that hospital doctors are good doctors; the reason these liars have a market is because under the current Chinese medicine dominance, hospitals are not focused on curing and saving lives but on making profits. These quacks exploit the lack of access to medical treatment and hope for survival among the common people, selling their lies like religion to deceive and manipulate. They always boast about their “reviving hands that can bring the dead back to life and turn meat into bones,” but in reality, patients in their hands can only suffer and die after enduring their witchcraft.

Now you often see people confusing right and wrong when talking about “detox”. But does traditional Chinese medicine really have the concept of detoxification? If so, what is the actual situation?

This person’s Weibo content is very intense, besides this, they praise traditional Chinese medicine, support Trump, engage in divination theology to mock the West, and use Honor and Huawei phones, posting intensely every day. There’s a strong old pink (nationalist) vibe, and over ten thousand followers are still verified Weibo V. This person seems to deliberately express very obsessive pink (nationalist) views, like a marketing account, bought by the Chinese修 (Chinese Communist Party), with all kinds of clichés.

Some charlatans claiming to practice traditional Chinese medicine go around deceiving people, constantly talking about detoxification, detoxification. The word “detox” feels too mysterious, but what exactly is “toxins”?

This person is so hateful :rage:

Just this, such obvious diabetic foot rotting, yet they say it’s detoxification. It’s very likely that it was a burn during moxibustion, and then it rotted like this.
And this person said the infection would have pus flowing, but it does not flow. However, the concept of “yin abscess” is mentioned in the “Complete Collection of Surgical Evidence and Treatment,” which records: “When the color is unclear and scattered, it is due to deficiency of qi and blood; when there is no pain but the area is flat and collapsed, it is due to toxin phlegm coagulation. The treatment method, if not for Ma Huang to open the pores, and not for cinnamon and prepared ginger to resolve the cold coagulation, these three herbs, even in the scorching heat, are indispensable. Once the pores are opened, the cold coagulation is resolved, qi and blood can circulate, and the toxin will also dissipate.” Therefore, Yihe Tang (Yanghe Decoction) is used for treatment. This shows that not all diabetic foot ulcers will suppurate and flow pus; some are hard in texture.

Toxins can be understood as a pathological accumulation, also a pathogenic factor, an abstract and naive understanding, just like the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water.

Shocking, in order to promote his own “medical skills,” he actually used his elderly mother as a test subject.
