After rejoining the association, by studying official documents and the discussions in various sections, many of my ideological questions were answered. However, my understanding of the oppression of women was not only insufficiently profound but could be said to be significantly mistaken. Over the past more than two years, I abandoned the study of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism and ideological struggle, and thus could not clearly see the various defamatory and oppressive news and the carnival of fascist male chauvinist ideology in society. I even treated shameless and vulgar retrograde remarks like “Confucius still had vision” as jokes.
For example, regarding the Datong case, before returning to the association, I did not understand it and completely failed to see the errors in the shameless howls of various fascists and even various “lawyers.” After reading Onshore6412’s self-introduction and the criticism everyone directed at him, I felt both anger at his oppressive thoughts and anger at myself because I recalled a rape crime that happened around me in the past.
After being bullied out of the dormitory in high school and not finding a suitable place to stay for a while, a friend who was seen by everyone as a bit “neurotic” heard about my situation and invited me to share rent with him. We were not classmates but had met during a “bingji” activity (a bourgeois sport simulating ancient weapon combat with various non-lethal weapon models). Although he participated in bingji, he was very thin. After moving in with him, I found that his mother came every day to cook for him, which made me even more puzzled. At first, I thought he might have gastrointestinal problems, but later I gradually discovered that he had serious mental illnesses, including auditory hallucinations and memory loss.
Not long after, on a night when he had run off somewhere after a quarrel and I didn’t know where, I asked his mother (a bourgeois woman who, according to her, owned a small seafood market) about the cause of his mental illness. She told me that since childhood he had lived with his sister, and their mother had raised them alone. Their father spent all day in a teahouse reading martial arts novels and rarely took care of them, often leaving the two children at home alone. His sister was about four or five years older than him and was raped by a teacher in elementary school (I don’t know which grade). According to the aunt, after feeling very bad for several days, the sister suddenly couldn’t bear it anymore; she grabbed her hand crying and pointed to her genital area, saying it hurt very much. The aunt took the sister to report it, but the case was not filed due to insufficient evidence. Perhaps every time the teacher assaulted her, he threatened her not to tell the aunt at first and washed away the evidence from her genital area. Perhaps that beast of a teacher colluded with revisionist bourgeois forces to prevent the case from being filed, but the truth is unknown. A few days later, the sister completely lost her mind and remains so to this day. The aunt cried as she showed me a photo on her phone of the sister now: a woman in her twenties, with hollow eyes and disheveled clothes, lying on a messy bed.
I thought, perhaps my classmate, after his sister went insane and no one cared for her, could only live with his mad sister. Growing up in such an environment from a very young age, it is not surprising that he developed mental illness. Not long after, my classmate decided to drop out because he could no longer bear the physical and mental oppression of the bourgeois school. And that beast, the scoundrel who ruined a girl who had not yet finished childhood and even an entire family, is still a “people’s teacher” at that elementary school.
Looking back now, those who use so-called arguments like “If the woman was raped, why did she clean her genital area instead of preserving evidence in time?” to excuse the rapist in the Datong case are standing on the same side as those rapists. They even use slogans like “male safety,” which is utterly shameless! If these thoughts are not continuously combated through theoretical study and struggle against the pornographic and obscene thoughts in life, sooner or later they will fall into such a deep pit. Now I begin my struggle against male chauvinist thoughts with this horrifying example of oppression to warn myself: whenever male chauvinist errors appear, expose and criticize them.
